Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for ColorPalooza?
Registration is done online through this LInk and MUST be done before the deadline date (as orders for the color packets and t-shirts have to be placed 2 weeks in advance.) After the deadline date, you can register on the day of the event for an additional $5. Anyone registering after the deadline is not guaranteed a Color Palooza t-shirt. Extras will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Wredling PTO will not be able to make any exceptions on the late registration policy.
What is the ColorPalooza Swag and when/where can I pick it up?
Each online paid registrant gets some awesome Swag including: a Wredling ColorPalooza t-shirt Goggles & a wristband. The wristband allows access to additional items: a color packet for the end color blast celebration, kona Ice, pizza & A drink. Swag pick up begins at 3:00pm at the check in desks on the Wredling Black Top the day of the event.
What is the color made of?
The color powder is food grade quality cornstarch and food coloring. It is non-toxic, 100% safe and biodegradable. As with any substance, you will want to keep it out of your eyes and lungs. If you are overly sensitive, you may want to wear glasses or goggles for your eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for your mouth. (Especially recommended for younger runners/walkers.).
What should I wear?
White clothing shows colors best! Want a lot of color to hit your shirt, run/walk closer to the color throwers. Want only a little bit of color, run/walk in the farthest lane from the throwers. Color mostly washes but can stain, wash it sooner than later. Wear clothes/shoes you don't mind getting color on and brush off as much as possible before getting into the car and again before laundering. Bring a towel or some plastic bags and some wipes. Color dust in your vehicle wipes or vacuums out easily. Mostly it won't stain and it won't stain skin. We provide goggles or you can wear sunglasses.
Can you prevent the color from staining your hair?
The short answer is yes, mostly. Some hair will stain easier than others. The lighter and more processed your hair is, the more likely it is to stain. (So, if you color your hair blond, you'll want to pay the most attention. Fine hair tends to stain easier than coarse hair. Check with your hairstylist for more information). To completely prevent your hair from staining, pull your hair back tight and wear a hat or a bandana that covers your hair completely. A wig could also be fun for the color Palooza. The Wredling PTO is not responsible for stains that can not be removed.
Can I take pictures?
Yes! A professional photographer will cover the ColorPalooza and the PTO may use the photos to promote PTO events. If you do bring a device please keep devices in a plastic bag to keep it color dust free. Wredling PTO is not responsible for any device damage during the event.
Can I wear costumes?
Yes Please! The whiter and crazier, the better! White clothing displays the most optimal color coverage possible. Wear a tutu, a feather boa or whatever you can dream up, just be sure to meet the school dress code. You will be coated head to toe in color when finished if you choose to run/walk close to the color throwers.
Can I walk?
Yes! You will be one of many who will be walking as the ColorPalooza is non-competitive and un-timed. You can walk, jog, run, crawl, skip, or dance to the music from our ColorPalooza DJ. Come ready to have fun and get covered in color.
Can I refund my registration?
No. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to offer refunds. You can still pick up your T-shirt at the event registration desk. Submitting registration will serve as acceptance of the no refund policy. In the event of severe weather, the event will have to be canceled. All T-shirts will be given to the registrants via school should this be the case.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, but no pets are allowed at this event.
Are there age limits?
Everyone is welcome at the ColorPalooza! We recommend children are properly protected with sunglasses, maybe even something to cover their mouth. The powdered color could irritate the smaller ones more than adults. Each child aged 5 years and younger will be allowed to run/walk free with a paid adult. All kids who wish to participate no matter how old must be registered.
How do I keep the cool colors in my ColorPalooza Shirt?
If you want to keep that t-shirt full of color, place it in a plastic bag immediately following the run, first soak it in vinegar and then iron it. That's the best way to preserve your ColorPalooza shirt for the longest amount of time.
